Credit Card application forms in your name even after tearing up!

Just read the scariest story, about a fellow who wondered if the bank would accept a torn up credit card application, if it had a little sticky tape on it:
The Torn Up Credit Card Application
The short answer is: yep! they will!
Scary, scary stuff - I think he’s right. If you don’t want those unwanted credit card appplication forms to haunt you, you need to shred them, or burn them or something - tearing them up obviously doesn’y cut it.

Although, he seems equally concerned that changing the address and phone number didn’t ring any alarm bells, but when you think about it, it wa *his* mobile phone, and that may well already be linked to his credit record, and it was his parent’s address, and - who knows, I may just be guessing in the dark here - he may well once have lived at his parent’s address, and its still part of his credit record (I wonder if they are a sort of permanent record, like school?)
And the form didn’t seem to be a prefilled one - it looks like he had to write in his name.
So, maybe credit applications that come in the mail aren’t quite so scary? Hmmm…

Nonetheless - a SOP of shredding or burning financial details is probably still a good idea.

Hat tip: Burt - ta mate!

… and we’re back (took me ages to reinstall the blog after the emergency host change! Sorry about that!)
