When will the final Harry Potter novel be available?
Current expectations are that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published on July 21 this year (2007) – so at time of writing we only have a little over 5 months to go.
I’d love to know if its actually finished yet. What do you think? Likely?

Want to pre-order? Amazon has Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows available for pre order, if you are a big Harry Potter fan and want the book to arrive on your doorstep on the day of release, rather than doing that nasty queue-in-the-bookshop thing.

Or are you trying to avoid all that overseas postage cost? You can order Harry Potter at <a href="http://www.clixGalore.com/PSale.aspx?BID=7761&AfID= 96761&AdID=1320&AffDirectURL=seekbooks.com.au%2ffeaturedbook1.asp%3fStoreUrl%3ddefault_au%26bookid%3d9780747591061"onmouseover="window.status='http://seekbooks.com.au';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">Seek Books, too – they are probably the best online bookstore in Australia. (Seek doesn’t have the book available for pre-order at the tme of writing, but that link should work later – hopefully when you read this )

There are adult and children covers being pushed again, but the pictures aren’t actually different yet – I guess that means that the publisher hasn’t yet said what they will look like?

And how do you think the storyline will come out? Voldemort will be defeated, of course, but I think we will have to lose one of main characters – so, who will it be? Harry? (A little predictable) Ron? (Most likely, I think) or Hermoine? (I hope not! It would lack balance, although she is brave enough…)
Me, I can imagine Ron being killed, and Harry and Hermoine eventually hooking up (possibly after the books end, but I nice hint to it in the book?)
Anyway – time will tell!
Only 5 more months to wait…

Dave got the boy “Possum Magic” as one of his birthday presents. (For the record, the boy got *far* too many presents, and has declared that he wants “another castle”. I do hope we aren’t overdoing it with him!) It has instantly become our read-every-night-at-bedtime story. I do like it, and its very cute, and, most appealingly, its a fast read!

If you are looking for a children’s book I do recommend it. Hmm, a little bit of googling shows that others agree with me. Its won a swath of awards, like the NSW Premierís Award-winner and Winner of the 1986 IBBY Diploma for Illustration, and most tellingly, apparently its the best selling Australian children’s picture book ever, and it deserves such accolades – great little story.

If you want to read it, you can pick it up at Amazon, or at Seek Books (probably the best Australian online bookseller)

Finally! After much waiting, we get the next book in the acclaimed “Song of Ice and Fire” series. The fourth book is called A Feast of Crows. It will be published in the UK publishing-world on October 17 and in the US publishing world on November 8. (In case you don’t know, Australia generally comes under the UK end of publishing, although we see many more US editions these days).

The bad news is that he wasn’t able to put all the material he wanted to into the book; it got too big. The good news is that he has split the extra material into yet another book – and this one is almost ready! A Dance with Dragons should follow not too long after A Feast of Crows.

If you wish to pre-order the American edition you can get it at Amazon and the UK edition is available at Seek Books (probably the best Australian online bookseller). I’m looking forward to reading it, and I hope you are too!
