Hmmm… interesting.
It would seem a basic flaw in MT is that it doesnt display the most recent entry, but the most recent entry this month.
Bit of a problem when one hasnt posted this month.
OK, this may be a pathetic fix, but it does fix it. This month 
Mental note: 1st of the month post each month
2nd mental note: figure out how to fix the MT template!
