2005 Studebaker National Car Meet - Observation Run - Barossa Valley Trip
On the Monday, there was a Barossa Valley bus trip planned but we weren’t going on that as we knew just which wineries we wanted to go to.
We were seeing an old friend and he was coming out to the wineries with us.
We went to Elderton and just managed to avoid buying a crate of wine, but got some of their gorgeous golden semillon. We went to Kaesler and got the mandatory White Port. It was too early for lunch so we didn’t stop there. We went to Jenke (of course!!!) and got some Cab Sav and also got a bottle of Merlot. we had lunch at the German Bakery in Tanunda but found that it had *gasp* changed hands and it just wasn’t the same - there weren’t even little breads with mustard for starters. Probably the major disappointment for the day.
Later on we went out for dinner with another friend. We had noted that the Wheatsheaf at East Gawler was open again, but obviously not on a Monday night, so we ended up back in Gawler for dinner at the pub. Wasn’t bad, and it was good to catch up.
Then we drove back to Glenelg and, yes, passed out again.
